We decided the first interaction with snow should be in the safety of the bathtub... :)
Our kitchen floor (minus re-installing the trim) is finally finished!!! It's so beautiful :)
Once upon a time while living in South Carolina, I went to the bathroom in a restaurant. And I fell in love with the walls. So much so, that I asked the owner where the pattern was from. And I bought the stencil. And I saved it. For three years. Yes, I know. Obsessive much? Most of our house (except the laundry room and one wall of the kitchen is textured, so I feared I would never get to use my beloved stencil. I also couldn't figure out how to use two colors that wouldn't make it "90s stencil cutesy". I finally saw (yes, on pinterest) to use the same color of gloss paint over satin wall paint for a subtle patterned look. So on Christmas Break, I FINALLY used my wonderful stencil... :) The above picture is the stenciling in progress; the below picture is what it looks like finished (except it's on the entire wall). It's a really subtle effect, and I love it!
Mr. Snowbunny trying to figure out how he's going to bend down and pick up that pacifier...
Sawyer LOVES the snow. He throws a huge fit when he has to come in. We've learned it's better to not *quite* bundle him up completely, so that he will get wet and cold and see the value in coming in. When he's bundled like an eskimo, he could care less about coming in, and he wants to live in the snow forever! :)
Right before Christmas Break, my students had a ton of projects and work to finish. As a student, I remember HATING how my teachers would pile on work at the end and rush to finish everything, but as a teacher, I can't seem to stay away from that. My Seniors were in the final throes delights of studying Macbeth. As a culminating project, they were split into groups, assigned one act of the play, and told to re-write it...as a script... in a different setting... then re-enact it for the class. SO much fun :) While they grumbled, they all did a great job! We ended up having Macbeth on an airplane, in Oz, and in Harry Potter's World...
The Harry Potter group was phenomenal- with some comedic relief written into their script as well! Here's a quick video of part of their performance!
I also created a funny bulletin board (thanks to Pinterest) that was Christmas-inspired. However, I took it down before I remembered to take a picture of it. So I'm posting the original source. My study hall kids helped me with it, and I loved it! Super-cute!
We started back to school on January 7th after a long (but never long enough!) Christmas break. We are down to 83 days left of school for this year, and it's flying by! In addition to the huge job of planning Prom 2013 being underway, Drama Club has also started. My life is FULL for the semester! Thankfully, I have a student-teacher who starts on January 22nd, so that will be quite the awesome experience to shoulder some of the responsibility!
