Videos from Birth
We didn't take a whole lot of videos, because well, Sawyer doesn't do much at this point.
But here's what we have so far (provided I have the patience to wait while they all upload)...
But here's what we have so far (provided I have the patience to wait while they all upload)...
2 MONTHS OLD! Update
I cannot believe Sawyer is two months old... then I realize how tired I am and how little sleep we've gotten, and I realize that yes, it feels every day of two months.
At his 2 month doctor's appointment, he had five shots :( :( :(, which he took like a champ (I wouldn't know, Daddy took care of that appointment). He weighed 11 1/4 lbs. (50th percentile), and he was 24 inches long (75th percentile). So he's an average weight and an above average height... maybe a bit of the Pollitt side is coming through after all.
He's grown out of his 6 month pants; he now has to wear 9 month clothes if they have pants/feet. Sometimes we get by with 6 month pants still if we put socks on to make it look not quite so highwater-ish.
He and Maggie have made peace... until Sawyer screams, then she bolts.
He slept 5 straight hours last night (longest stretch yet!), and he sleeps just like Daddy... He looks like a miniature Daniel, but we see more of my personality eeking through. Like the fact that snuggling is a must- I don't care what I'm feeling, what temperature it is, etc., I MUST cuddle with Daniel. He also HATES us being in a different room if he's awake. If he's awake, we must be at his side. Again, that's totally me.
He learned how to smile this past weekend... especially at his favorite FAVORITE toy. Put him in front of this, and he's a happy camper. He'll stare at it in fascination for minutes. What is it?
This brilliant, beautiful, designer, Walmart lamp... as Daniel said, "Well, Christmas is done."
Here are some baby smiles from looking at the lamp... (not great ones, he seems to be camera shy)
Now that we've paid back what we took out of savings for maternity leave, we have a new NICE camera in the mail... :) :) :) Better pictures to come!

Randoms...
That's right, folks. A really really really long, really big, really round piece of pipe. Yippee.
In other news, I completed my first Pinterest project...
I made this wreath from a pinterest post...
I love that our house number is on it :)
New door complete with decor... ignore the ugly brass lamps- we have a Menards rebate going towards new ones this week...
Mums and pumpkins are my favorite :)
First Week Back to School
Tomorrow begins my second week teaching and Sawyer's second week at Tiffany's. I'm sure you're all wondering how the first week went. :)
Sunday night was met with a lot of tears (mine). I realized how little time I'd actually spent apart from him since sometime mid-November of last year. Since the day we found out we were pregnant, I'd spent all my time with him. Now it was going to change. Waking up and getting ready Monday morning went smoothly. When I finally left for school, I left this sweet picture:
I didn't have much time to compose myself during my 2 block drive. I held it together until the beginning of our teachers' meeting when everyone was telling me how glad they were I was back. Then I lost it for a few minutes.
However, school was amazing, and I truly love teaching. Sawyer is in good hands (pictures of his time at Tiffany's to come), and it gets easier every day!
Daniel took him to Tiffany's every day, and then I picked him up after school. Unfortunate timing- Homecoming Week was my first week back. So after I picked him up at 3:30, we headed to Float Building at 4. With my sophomore class we constructed a float for hours... and hours... and hours every night. Sawyer was very good and interested throughout the entire process, and whenever he got fussy, there were enough moms (lamenting the fact that their "babies" were now 15 and going to Homecoming) to hold him and love on him while we worked.
Finally, Friday was the parade, the football game, and the beginning of a three day WEEKEND!

Sawyer didn't feel the need to watch the float in the parade as he'd already seen it all week. :)
Here it comes!
Homecoming theme: Carnival... Our float was Whack-A-Buffalo (rather than Whack-a-Mole)... The mallet moved up and down, and so did the lightning bolt.
And we totally won for the second year in a row... :) :) :)

Daddy and Bubby
Reminder number 1: At my six week post-partum doctor's appointment, the nurse made a comment that completely caught me off -guard. After asking how Daniel was with Sawyer, she remarked, "At a lot of six week visits the dad is already out of the picture." Intensely, tragically sad.
Reminder number 2: For an entire FIVE WHOLE DAYS, Daniel had to travel to Kansas City, Missouri with FCA for his new hire training. Five days does not seem like a huge amount of time to the average person, but it is. We've never been apart five consecutive days since the summer of 2008 when we were dating. Actually, we'd only ever spent 6 nights (all separate) apart from one another after we were married. Five days is a long time for this wifey, and I'd been dreading it since the day he was hired. On a different spectrum, five days is an immensely long time to be the only one holding, comforting, feeding, changing, dressing, burping, and carrying a 6 week old infant, especially when that particular infant mysteriously only acts colicky when Daniel is not around. Especially when endometriosis strikes in the middle of the night. Especially when I need to take a shower. I have a new respect for all single parents after my week alone with Sawyer, and I have a new ability to do the majority of life tasks with one hand.
Daniel is my best friend. He's the one I can let it all out to every single night, whatever that day's "it" may be. He is the strength of our family, the element of peace, and he's a huge help. I may joke about him sleeping through feedings, I may get annoyed that he leaves the kitchen towel crumpled on the counter, but without him, I'd be consistently off-track and ready to jump off a cliff. He's a great dad.

A Day in the Life of Maternity Leave...
Now that my maternity leave is officially over, let me show you what we did all day:
We played in Bubby's play gym and watched the lights...
We talked to each other, and Sawyer waved his arms and kicked his feet.
Sawyer slept in his swing...
We snuggled...
We tried to take some pictures together...
I overwhelmed Sawyer with kisses...
And while Sawyer slept, I worked on some "to-do" list items!
I was very privileged to spend 7 weeks at home with this amazing little boy :)
