Reminder number 2: For an entire FIVE WHOLE DAYS, Daniel had to travel to Kansas City, Missouri with FCA for his new hire training. Five days does not seem like a huge amount of time to the average person, but it is. We've never been apart five consecutive days since the summer of 2008 when we were dating. Actually, we'd only ever spent 6 nights (all separate) apart from one another after we were married. Five days is a long time for this wifey, and I'd been dreading it since the day he was hired. On a different spectrum, five days is an immensely long time to be the only one holding, comforting, feeding, changing, dressing, burping, and carrying a 6 week old infant, especially when that particular infant mysteriously only acts colicky when Daniel is not around. Especially when endometriosis strikes in the middle of the night. Especially when I need to take a shower. I have a new respect for all single parents after my week alone with Sawyer, and I have a new ability to do the majority of life tasks with one hand.
Daniel is my best friend. He's the one I can let it all out to every single night, whatever that day's "it" may be. He is the strength of our family, the element of peace, and he's a huge help. I may joke about him sleeping through feedings, I may get annoyed that he leaves the kitchen towel crumpled on the counter, but without him, I'd be consistently off-track and ready to jump off a cliff. He's a great dad.
Sawyer's shirt says "I love Dad"
